Viking Wolf Necklace with Odin's Gungnir Spear
Two wolf heads meet at the top of this one, jaws closed on a ring, and Gungnir, Odin's spear, hangs point down from it. The spearhead is worked with detail along the blade and the wolves are cut deep above it. It all runs on a heavy chain and hangs long, with real weight in the spear so it sits straight down the chest.
Gungnir was made so that once it left the hand it never missed and never fell short of the mark. The wolves are instinct, the part of a man that knows where to go before he can explain why. Together they make the whole thing: knowing the target, and hitting it. I make this for the man who says exactly what he means and arrives where he said he would, without a lot of noise on the way.
I go over every piece by hand before it ships. The wolves' jaws and the spear point are worked smooth, so there is nothing sharp to snag a collar or dig into your skin. You can sleep in it and not notice. There is no hollow zinc alloy under a thin plating here. It is solid 316L surgical steel, the kind that will not tarnish and will not turn your skin green, no matter how hard you sweat in it. It ships in a dark wooden Viking gift box, the way a piece like this should be handed over.
