Mjolnir Pendant: Mammen Style Thor's Hammer
This one is cast in solid brass, head and haft in a single piece, with Mammen-style knotwork worked across the face. It stands just under 4 centimeters tall. Small enough to wear every day, solid enough that you know it is there.
The Mammen style takes its name from a Viking grave in Denmark, where a richly inlaid axe was found with the same flowing, interlaced lines. Mjolnir is the hammer Thor swung to keep the giants out of Asgard, and Norsemen wore small hammers like this one close to the chest as a ward against harm. I make this for the man who answers when something comes for what he protects.
I go over every piece by hand before it ships. The edges of the head and the bail are worked smooth, so nothing snags a collar or scratches your skin. It is solid brass, not plated alloy. Over time it darkens to a deep, warm patina, the way old Viking bronze does, and a jewelry cloth brings it back bright whenever you want. It ships in a dark wooden Viking gift box.
