A shield was the one thing a Norseman never crossed open water without. This one rides against your chest.
The Viking shield was protection you could hold: a wall against whatever the sea and the fight threw at you. This pendant is built on that idea first, a weighted round shield ringed with the runes of the old North, forged to sit heavy and sure where it counts.
Turn it over and the other side answers the first. Set into the face is the Vegvisir, the Norse wayfinder said to keep a traveller from losing their path, with a compass core that actually turns in your fingers. Defence on one hand, direction on the other. A guard for the body and a guide for the way.
Forged and weighted in stainless steel, it carries like something made to be carried. For the one who holds his ground and still keeps moving, trusting the way will reveal itself one step at a time.
Materials & Sizing +
Forged 316L stainless steel, weighted and solid — hypoallergenic, waterproof, rust and tarnish resistant.
Pendant measures roughly 3.5 x 3.5 cm, on a 70 cm chain that sits comfortably against the chest.
The Rotating Vegvisir +
Set into the shield is a compass core that spins freely, so the Vegvisir can be turned by hand. A small mechanism with a real, satisfying motion, not a fixed decoration.
Spin it slowly and let it settle. It's meant to be handled, often.
